After we loaded Cody's antelope we checked in with Nate and Hoss and they weren't far away so they met us at the gate and we went through the congratulations and story telling again. We headed back to the house to get the antelope clean and they decided to look for a nice buck for Hoss. Cory and I were doing a fine job of quartering the animal when we heard a shot in the distance and knew Hoss had connected. A report from Nate confirmed that Hoss had in fact made a nice shot at 330 yards on one …

Tucumcari tidbits and random pics
I've known Hoss over 30 years and Cory over 20 and Nate's my brother so we are pretty familiar with each other so to say there's some bad jokes and smack talking would be an understatement but the worst line of the trip goes to Hoss for this comment that made me laugh. I get to the kitchen and say, "hey Hoss I smell something burning", his response, "its desire". Here's some sort of caterpillar, if anyone knows what he turns into I'd like to know. Notice the fly for size …
Tucumcari Day 2 Exploring and Coyotes
The main focus of this trip for me and Nate was to get all tags filled first, then do some coyote hunting. I'm convinced I have a New Mexico coyote curse put on me because in three trips to this ranch I have not successfully called up and killed a coyote. I don't consider myself an expert coyote hunter by any means but have called and killed a truck load in my life but something about the ones here make me look like a fool. I won't spend much time on the coyote hunting part of the trip, mostly …
Tucumcari day 1 Cody’s Antelope
There's nothing about sunsets and sun rises in this part of New Mexico that you can't love. The land is not for everyone and if you love trees then don't stop here but its beautiful country in its own way. Hoss had coffee ready well before sun up and I had a cup outside and waited for the sunrise while the guys got their gear together. On cattle ranches in this part of the world when things stop working they are put out to pasture, so to speak, this includes trucks, dogs, horses, even people at …
Tucumcari, the ride there
We left out early Thursday for Tucumcari New Mexico, I had a two hour drive to Graham to pick up Nate and the rest of the crew was to follow. Hoss, Cory and Cody were pulling the trailer full of Rangers and Nate and I had the Jeep loaded down and we were off. It didn't take long before a food and drink stop was needed but nothing special just some fried gas station food, I had some pretty good chicken livers, Nate grabbed pizza and we planned the next stop for the Big Texan in Amarillo. The Big …
