Making Brats

I don't wanna turn this site into a recipe blog but I do get asked all the time, if your always eating at the cafes then what are you doing with all the meat you kill? Well I eat it, almost everyday at one of our meals there is a wild animal involved, wether it be breakfast sausage or fish for supper or a smoked hog quarter, we eat everything we kill. I give meat to family and friends and will on occasion share some summer sausage too. So here are few pics of me and Patrick making brats this …

KN Root Beer and more turkeys

This trip was gonna require me to be a taxi driver, turkey caller, baby sitter, and uncle. My nephew Keeton has been asking for a couple years to take him to shoot a turkey and we just haven't been able to line it up but this weekend we made it work. Opening Day Turkey Season

It wasn't the start I hoped for but baseball got in the way and we missed the morning hunt. After a stop for food and gas we got to camp at 10:00 AM. I had a big crew with me Saturday. My friend Steve needed firewood and I figured his son Aaron needed to catch a fish so he came along and Alex and Braden came because I tricked them into thinking they were gonna get to do a lot of hunting but first we had a chord of wood to cut, I left that part out when I told them we were going hunting. Between …

All I know about Minnie Conway

I've hunted the same land for near 20 years now and have never known of a grave on the place until recently. Maw, who is not my grandma but is still Maw, is 90 this year she owns this land and has lived on it her whole life, her kids were born on it, her family made a living from it, she knows no other life than being in the country and working on the land. She recently ask me to clean the grave up a little and rebuild the fence around it. Charlie her son told me, "Maw wants the grave cleaned …
