Since I'll be gone most of the month hunting I tried my best to not go hunting this weekend but man when its 55 degrees with a cool north wind and I got the yard chores done I can't help it. I told Mary I'd buy her some lunch before I left so we went up the road to a little Mexican restaurant called Cha Chas, now before I say this is my favorite place just know that every cafe I'm at is my favorite place at the time. I'm hungry and they feed me how could I not make them my favorite, that being …

Opening Archery Seaon
We started the weekend in Springtown watching Graham roll over yet another team. First food stop was one of my favorites, Dairy Land in Jacksboro where I am a regular. Jacksboro is the closest town to the land we hunt and for a town of 3,000 it has a surprisingly good amount of eateries. Here is the Harold Special, enchiladas, beans, rice and grilled sirloin with onions. As the sun comes up Saturday morning me and Alex are settled in and waiting, he was about a quarter mile south of …
Better than Christmas
Its opening weekend of the Texas archery season and we are on the road I hope that warning in the mirror about the objects being closer than they appear is wrong cause I want those buildings as far away as possible. I think it was Mac Davis that said happiness is Lubbock Texas in your rearview mirror, well Mac the same applies to Ft Worth cause the smaller it gets in my mirror the bigger my smile gets. Now on to Jack county for some good food and a high school football game. How can it …
Galveston Eats

If it was swimming in the ocean yesterday its likely swimming in grease here today. I had shrimp po boy and it was good. The place is a little small but with outside seating and a nice covered patio who cares. Love seeing local guides and fisherman come in smelling like salt water and looking like the ocean and wind worked em over pretty good that day. Over all good …
At the dock
Everybody got in the action. After several sharks boated, a couple which we couldn't keep, we moved and got on some big red fish. All over 38" and one near 44". Alex and Mary struggled with theirs at times but both landed nice fish. The combination of heat, big waves and the fight of the fish put Mary Ann in her seat for awhile, but we all caught plenty fish. After six hours I was beat and the dock was a welcome sight especially knowing that a man was waiting there with knife in hand to do the …
